What can you edit in a Zillow listing photo?

You can fix the light, the color and a crooked angle, and you can add virtual furniture if you label it. You cannot put your name, logo, phone number, email or a watermark on the photo, and the photo has to show the home as it really is. Zillow says breaking the branding rule can get your listings or account removed.

We make PropWalk, which edits listing photos, so read this as a summary from a tool maker, not Zillow. We read Zillow’s help page on branded photos and its July 2026 note on AI-altered photos on Nov 6, 2026. Most listings reach Zillow from your MLS, so your MLS rules apply too.

What is fine, and what is not

EditOn Zillow
Brightness, color, white balance, straighteningFine. These are standard edits; even California’s law needs no label for them
Virtual staging (adding furniture)Fine if labelled. Zillow backs clear disclosure and showing the original. California requires the label now, Wisconsin from 2027
Removing the seller’s own clutterUsually fine with a label. In California it counts as an altered photo
Day to dusk, a new sky, greener grassLabel it. In California each needs the label and a link to the original
Hiding damage or power lines, or changing floors, walls or the viewNot fine. It misrepresents the home
Your name, logo, phone, email or a watermarkNot allowed on photos or video walkthroughs

Zillow’s own rules, in short

  • No marketing on photos or video walkthroughs: no agent name, company, logo, phone number or email, as text or a watermark.
  • Listing photos must show the home accurately. Agents and brokers answer for that, since most content comes through MLS feeds.
  • Zillow backs clear disclosure when AI materially changes a photo, with the original shown beside it where possible.
  • Its own Showcase virtual staging is chosen by the shopper, labelled and paired with the original photo.
  • Shoppers can flag an inaccurate listing with the Report Listing button.

Keeping your logo off the Zillow copy

PropWalk edits the photo itself. On a plan, the fixed photo has no logo or badge on it. Free fixes carry a small PropWalk badge, so do not send those to Zillow or your MLS. Keep your branded posts for Instagram and TikTok.

Quick answers

What can you edit in a Zillow listing photo?

Light, color and straightening are fine. Virtual staging is fine if labelled. Your name, logo, contact details and watermarks are not allowed, and the photo must show the home as it is. From Zillow’s pages, read Nov 6, 2026.

Can I put my logo on my Zillow listing photos?

No. Zillow does not allow an agent’s name, company, logo, phone number, email or a branded watermark on listing photos or video walkthroughs.

Does Zillow allow virtually staged photos?

Zillow’s standard is clear disclosure when a photo is materially altered, with the original available. Most photos reach Zillow from the MLS, so label staged photos the way your MLS asks.

Can I remove things from a Zillow listing photo?

Removing the seller’s loose items is usually accepted with a label. Removing or hiding anything that is part of the home, like damage, wires or a view, is not.

What happens if I break Zillow’s photo rules?

Zillow asks you to remove the branding, and says listings or the account can be suspended or removed. Shoppers can also report inaccurate listings.
